Ensuring you have everything to preparefor your visit.
Preparing for your visit
Health concerns can sometimes be sensitive or uncomfortable to talk about, so it’s perfectly normal to feel a little apprehensive – especially if it’s the first time you’ve ever visited a women’s reproductive health specialist.
We recommend preparing by making a list of what you want to discuss with Dr Joseph. It can help to make some notes on anything you think is relevant: the symptoms you’ve been experiencing, other health conditions you may have, any medication you’re on, or even anything notable in your family history.
SOME TIPS ON YOUR REFERRAL
If you would like to obtain any available rebates from Medicare for your obstetrics, gynaecology or fertility services, you will need to obtain a referral from your GP or another specialist. This can be done after booking, but must be completed before your appointment.
A standard referral from a GP will be valid for 12 months unless the letter states otherwise. You may able to seek a referral that is valid for an indefinite amount of time if your situation allows.
If your referral is from another specialist, it will only be valid for three months from your consultation date with the referring specialist.
If you’re a couple seeking medical advice on fertility, make sure both of your names and dates of birth appear on the referral.
Private health providers:
To make your care accessible, Dr Joseph accepts most major health insurance providers. If you’d like to know what is and isn’t covered prior to booking in for your appointment, we recommend that you contact your health insurer to understand your levels of cover.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Your first appointment is focussed on getting to know you. During this consultation, Dr Joseph will undertake a comprehensive examination and medical history. Depending on your situation, further testing may be required to assist with diagnosis. The initial appointment will generally take around 30 minutes.
Don’t forget to bring
